Green Cleaning Tips
Regular cleaning is a must with all homes if we want a healthy living environment. Sometimes we fail to let our homes see light of day or fresh air, thus becoming excellent breeding grounds for toxins, dust mites and other indoor pollutants. We Most of us usually get to cleaning at some point. Typical cleaning products may contain dangerous chemicals which may affect the health of the occupants of the home. There are plenty of less/non-toxic cleaning inexpensive alternatives often found already in the home. They will give us less toxicity and a safer way of cleaning.
So what are these cleaning products?
- Newspapers
- White vinegar
- Microfiber cloths
- Baking soda
- Essential oils
- Olive oil
- Borax
The following examples can be used in most cases:
- Cleaning glass can be easily done by mixing up some vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Spray on the surface and then wipe it off with a cloth or an old newspaper.
- Bathroom tiles and countertops can be cleaned with a combination of vinegar and baking soda diluted with water. Use it with a sponge to scour the surface and then wipe it away.
- Cleaning your floors requires a simply mix of vinegar and hot water – it will help break down most dirt and grime. Alternately you can add some essential oils for a better scent if you want to make things more pleasant.
- Cleaning and polishing furniture requires a solution of olive oil and lemon juice for maximum effect. Just apply it to a cloth and rub it into the and buff to a shine.
- Cleaning the toilet bowl is a very easy task that only needs some baking soda for any rings. Finish with a spray of white vinegar to disinfect.
